Masood Jhandir Library is the largest private library in Pakistan. Located in the small village of Sardar Pur Jhandir in the Mailsi, Punjab province, it was established in 1899 by a scholar, poet, Malik Ghulam Muhammad (1865–1936). The library houses over 360,000 books. Renowned globally as a premier private reference library, Masood Jhandir Library holds significant importance. Recognizing its historical and cultural value, Chughtai Public Library has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to digitize the Jhandir Library. This project aims to preserve this invaluable knowledge heritage and enhance accessibility for a wider audience. Chughtai Public Library has deployed modern scanners and trained technical staff who are diligently digitizing the books on a regular basis, ensuring that this treasure trove of knowledge is preserved and made accessible to future generations.
