Dr. Waheed-uz-Zaman Tariq

Professor Brigadier (Retired) Waheed Uz Zaman Tariq, Fazil e Farsi, Fazil e Urdu, M.A. (Persian Gold Medal), Ph.D. (Persian language and Literature), an expert of Iqbaliyat. He is busy in teaching Iqbal’s Persian Poetry, voluntarily, for many years. He is perhaps the only Person of his caliber in the understanding and interpretation of Iqbal’s Persian poetry, in comparison to history, classical Persian and Quran. He is proficient in English, Persian (including Dari and Tajik dialects), Arabic and Urdu. His Persian poetic collection was published in Iran and present he is the living Persian poet of the subcontinent. His Urdu poetry has also been published. He has authored twenty books, in Urdu, Farsi and English. His books on Iqbaliyat: Iqbal and the Sages of East, Iqbal Naqsh Hay e Heft Rang, different editions of Ahl e Fars Aur Iqbal and his contribution in UqabiRuh, is well recognized. He has been asked to address as a keynote speaker on Iqbaliyat all over the world including the Middle East and the United States of America. In Pakistan, his lectures are considered to be the reference for understanding Iqbal and his thoughts. A historian and a scholar of literature and social sciences, he is busy in Television talks. He is the Patron in Chief of Bazm e Fikr e Iqbal Pakistan, Iqbal Research Institute and has been in the same capacity of Majlis e Qalandaran e Iqbal in the UAE for a decade. He is respected in the Sufi circles and the literary gatherings. His services in teaching Iqbal and making it public on the social media on a voluntary basis has set a new trend to learn Iqbal’ Persian poetry, which was previously neglected in Pakistan, he has made his impact in the understanding of ideology of Pakistan and point of view of Quaid e Azam and Allama Iqbal in the foundation of the nation and shaping her future. His services stretch to five decades and with his hairwork, he has made contribution for the propagation of the message of Iqbal, more than any person. He is simple hearted, kind professor and an example of honesty, devotion and patriotism, who has served the nation in uniform of Pak Army for almost three decades.
