Abstract: This diverse collection of telegrams and international cablegrams from 1945-1946 captures the Muslim League's multi-faceted activities during a critical period. Domestically, it reveals the intense internal politics of candidate selection for central assemblies, featuring personal appeals, rivalries, and complaints about the nomination process. Concurrently, the collection showcases Jinnah's growing international stature. It includes messages of support for the Pakistan cause from Muslim Leagues in Malaya and Congo (Kigali), a re-establishment of contact from the South Indian Muslim League in Singapore after liberation from Japanese occupation, and urgent cables from Palestine seeking solidarity against British policy and the declaration of a "Palestine Day" in India.
Description: This set of documents includes both standard Indian Posts and Telegraphs forms and international cablegram forms from The Indian Radio & Cable Communications Co., Ltd., highlighting the expanding scope of the Pakistan Movement. The domestic telegrams provide a candid look into the challenges of managing party tickets for elections, including allegations against rival candidates and discontent within constituencies. The international cables are of significant historical value, demonstrating how the Pakistan Movement and Jinnah's leadership resonated with Muslim communities worldwide, from South Africa to Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
