Abstract: This collection comprises letters from Haji Abdul Sathar, a Muslim League leader from Malabar, to M.A. Jinnah, written between 1937 and 1942. The letters discuss the growth of the Muslim League in Malabar, challenges from the Congress party, the impact of statements by other Muslim leaders (like Sir Wazir Hassan), requests for Jinnah's statements to counter opposition propaganda, reports on League activities and membership drives, and the nomination of Haji Abdul Sathar to the All India Muslim League Working Committee. Also included is one reply from Jinnah regarding a political resolution.
Description: This file contains a series of letters from Haji Abdul Sathar Haji Essak Sait, a prominent Muslim League activist and MLA from Tellicherry, Malabar, to Quaid-e-Azam M.A. Jinnah. The correspondence provides a detailed ground-level view of the Muslim League's expansion efforts in the Madras Presidency, particularly in Malabar, during the late 1930s and early 1940s. Haji Abdul Sathar reports on the successful establishment of League branches in numerous villages, the role of the Malayalam newspaper "Chandrika" in mobilizing the Mappila community, and the challenges posed by the Congress's mass contact movement. The letters also reflect on national political developments, such as the aftermath of the Bijnor session, the offer by Rajendra Prasad for negotiations, and the acceptance of office by the Congress. Haji Abdul Sathar's nomination to the All India Muslim League Working Committee in 1941 and 1942 is acknowledged with gratitude. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
