Abstract: This file contains two documents: a detailed historical and biographical note on Miangul Gulshahzada Sir Abdul Wadood, KBE, the Wall (Ruler) of Swat, tracing his ancestry, rise to power, and consolidation of rule; and a personal letter from M.A. Jinnah to the Wall-e-Swat. In the letter, Jinnah thanks the Wall for his whole-hearted support and generous financial contribution to the Muslim League's campaign for the critical referendum in the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), scheduled from 6th July 1947, which would decide the province's accession to Pakistan. Jinnah expresses his gratitude and emphasizes the importance of unity and discipline for the future nation.
Description: This file combines a biographical sketch of a key frontier ruler with a significant political letter from M.A. Jinnah during a pivotal moment in 1947. The historical note provides context on the Wall of Swat's legitimacy and his relationship with the British, while Jinnah's letter reveals the direct political outreach and alliance-building between the Muslim League leadership and the autonomous rulers of the frontier regions in the lead-up to Partition. The document underscores the strategic importance of Swat's support for the Pakistan movement and highlights the role of personal diplomacy and financial patronage in securing a favorable outcome in the NWFP referendum.
