Abstract: This document is an explanatory note defending and clarifying the historic resolution passed at the All-India Muslim League's Lahore session in March 1940. Written in response to criticism from the Congress and "anti-Muslim forces," it breaks down the resolution into three parts. It condemns the federal scheme of the 1935 Act, rejects the principle of majority rule based on numerical strength, and presents the core ideological argument: that Hindus and Muslims are "separate and distinct nations" with different religions, cultures, civilizations, and outlooks. It accuses the British and Hindus of perpetuating the "false theory" of a single Indian nation to subjugate Muslims.
Description: This is a foundational piece of Muslim League propaganda, issued shortly after the adoption of the Lahore Resolution (later known as the Pakistan Resolution). Its purpose is to educate and persuade, systematically refuting opposition and laying out the ideological justification for the demand for separate Muslim homelands. By deconstructing the resolution and attacking the "false hypothesis" of a single Indian nation, it articulates the essential logic of the Two-Nation Theory that became the bedrock of M.A. Jinnah's political stance in the 1940s. It is a direct response to the political storm the resolution provoked. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
