Abstract: This letter from Khan Bahadur G. Z. Kokani, President of the Nasik Muslim League, addresses M. A. Jinnah to protest the unfair treatment of Muslims in the recruitment for higher-grade positions within the Bombay Presidency Postal Department. Dated 23 August 1940, it highlights that out of 32 recent vacancies for Inspectors of Post Offices and Head Clerks, not a single post was given to a Muslim, despite the Government of India's resolution reserving at least 20% of superior posts for Muslims. The letter expresses shock at this exclusion and warns that such a policy is detrimental to Muslim interests. It calls for urgent intervention to rectify the discriminatory recruitment practices.
Description: An official complaint to Jinnah highlighting systemic discrimination against Muslims in postal service recruitment, urging his intervention to uphold promised job quotas in the Bombay Presidency. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
