Abstract: This collection comprises four documents related to the Simla Conference convened by Viceroy Lord Wavell in June 1945. The first is an official delegate list dated 27 June 1945, naming participants including M. A. Jinnah, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, M. K. Gandhi, Sir Khizar Hayat Khan Tiwana, Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan, Sir Khwaja Nazimuddin, and Master Tara Singh, with their Simla addresses and telephone numbers. The second document is a critical personal letter addressed to Lord Wavell from an unnamed correspondent, accusing the Viceroy of mishandling the conference on a communal basis, being weak with Jinnah’s “tom fooleries,” and being suspected by the Congress of conspiring with the Muslim League against democracy.

Description: Official records and correspondence from the Simla Conference, including the delegate list, portfolio proposals, and a sharply critical letter to Wavell, documenting the failed 1945 negotiations between British India’s political leadership. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
