Abstract: This collection comprises condolence telegrams from diverse sources addressed to Miss Fatima Jinnah following the death of Quaid-e-Azam M.A. Jinnah on September 11, 1948. The documents include messages from the Bahawalpur State Forces, 88 Sappers Nowshera, City Muslim League Ahmedabad, Jamatiah Madya Kasur, Muslim League of Transvaal (South Africa), a sender from Penang (Malaya), the Salar-e-Nizam of the Sind Muslim National Guard in Shikarpur, Muslim Merchants of Hyderabad Deccan, a Hindu religious leader from Mussoorie, a Muslim sender from Batavia (Indonesia), and the RMSP Union in Rawalpindi expressing profound grief and offering prayers.
Description: These telegrams demonstrate the extraordinary geographic and institutional range of mourning for Jinnah, extending from Pakistan's military forces to Muslim communities in South Africa, Southeast Asia, and across the Indian subcontinent. The collection includes a notably detailed message from the Muslim League of Transvaal reflecting on Jinnah's legacy and exhorting Muslims to follow his principles, alongside messages from Indonesian Muslims in Batavia showing the impact of his death in the newly independent nation. Together with messages from military units, religious organizations, and merchant communities, these documents reveal how Jinnah's passing was mourned as a universal loss for Muslims worldwide and for all who valued his leadership and statesmanship.
