Abstract: This collection comprises a covering letter dated August 28, 1973 from Mohammad Iqbal, Director Information, Azad Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir State, to Professor Mahmud Ahmed, Joint Secretary Ministry of Education, enclosing cyclostyled copies of Quaid-e-Azam M.A. Jinnah's interview with students in Hyderabad Deccan on October 21, 1940. The interview, originally copied by Mohammad Iqbal from Maulana Abdul Majid Daryabadi's Weekly 'Siddq' while a student at Aligarh in 1941, contains Jinnah's detailed responses to student questions regarding the Islamic state, its relationship with socialism and secular models like Turkey, and the role of the Muslim League.
Description: This document preserves a significant historical record of Jinnah's articulation of Islamic state concepts directly to students in 1940. In the interview, Jinnah emphasizes that the Islamic state is governed by Quranic principles rather than any individual's declarations, distinguishes it from secular models like Turkey, and explains the Muslim League's role in achieving the territorial sovereignty necessary for Muslims to practice their way of life. The document's provenance through the Weekly 'Siddq' and its preservation by a student who later became Director Information adds to its archival value, representing both primary source material on Jinnah's thought and evidence of how his ideas were transmitted to successive generations.
