Abstract: This file contains eight pages of messages and statements by Miss Fatima Jinnah from late 1950. Her message to the Deaf & Dumb Welfare Society, Lahore (October 3, 1950) acknowledges the first deaf & dumb institute in Pakistan, praises private initiative, and encourages support for such institutions. A clarification statement (issued on October 21, 1950, with multiple copies) firmly denies a news report that she was offered the presidency of the All Pakistan Muslim League and declined due to age, and also denies supporting any candidate for any office, urging people to choose leaders responsibly. Her speech at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Mohammad Ali Memorial Housing Society, Karachi (December 26, 1950) addresses the severe housing problem, praises the society for rehabilitating families, notes that despite being first organized they were last allotted land but first to start work, and appreciates the inclusion of a mosque, school, maternity home, hospital, shops, and playground.
Description: This file contains three distinct items from Miss Fatima Jinnah in late 1950: a supportive message to Lahore’s first deaf & dumb institute, a firm denial of a newspaper report about her being offered the Muslim League presidency, and a speech at a housing society’s foundation ceremony emphasizing the urgency of rehabilitation and housing amenities. The documents illustrate her engagement with social welfare, her careful avoidance of partisan politics, and her advocacy for practical solutions to Pakistan’s post‑independence challenges.
