Abstract: This file contains a diverse set of documents from 1949–1950 related to child welfare and international affairs. The first two pages are a speech by Miss Fatima Jinnah (likely delivered at the formation of the Pakistan National Committee for UNAC) in which she accepts the presidency of the National Body, outlines five action points, and appeals for one day’s income donation. A separate appeal (Children’s Day, 5 June) urges contributions for children affected by the Partition disturbances. A letter from G.H. Hidayatullah invites Miss Fatima Jinnah to a race meeting, half the proceeds of which would go to UNAC and half to the Olympic Fund.
Description: This file contains a mixture of speeches, appeals, correspondence, and a political memorandum from 1949–1950. The central theme is child welfare, with Miss Fatima Jinnah playing a leading role in the United Nations Appeal for Children in Pakistan. Her Baby Week address is a detailed exposition on reducing infant mortality and modernising child care. The file also includes an international dimension: a memorandum from the Algeria Office in Cairo describes French colonial atrocities in Algeria and appeals to the Arab League. A letter from UNICEF’s Pakistan Mission chief provides a report on the Fund’s global and local activities. The documents reflect Miss Fatima Jinnah’s humanitarian leadership and the broader post‑war international concerns for children’s rights and anti‑colonial struggles.
