Abstract: This file contains a souvenir programme from the purse presentation ceremony to Miss Fatima Jinnah for the liberation of Kashmir, held on 13 December 1948. The souvenir includes a list of 17 committee members, the ceremony programme (Tilawat, speeches, presentation, vote of thanks), and a detailed donor list with contributions ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 26,000 from businesses and individuals. Additional documents include a letter from Razia Gauhar (wife of Capt. S.D. Gauhar) explaining that she and her sisters‑in‑law knitted for the bazaar to earn Rs. 140 and had six lehafs made for the Azad Kashmir Forces. A letter from the Pakistan Cotton Association (31 March 1949) encloses a cheque for Rs. 1,500. A receipt from H.Y. Fatehmohamed & Co. (19 November 1949) acknowledges payment for 160 blankets supplied to Miss Fatima Jinnah for Kashmir. A letter from the Quaid‑i‑Azam’s Relief Fund (15 December 1949) acknowledges receipt of Rs. 10,000 for 1,000 U.S.A. military blankets supplied to hospitals in Azad Kashmir.
Description: This file comprises a souvenir and related correspondence from 1948–1950 documenting fundraising efforts for the liberation of Kashmir under the leadership of Miss Fatima Jinnah. The souvenir lists substantial donations from Karachi‑based mercantile families and businesses. Additional letters highlight individual grassroots contributions (hand‑knitted lehafs), corporate donations, and the procurement of thousands of blankets for Azad Kashmir hospitals. The documents illustrate the broad-based support for the Kashmir cause and Miss Fatima Jinnah’s central role in channeling relief to the conflict zone.
