Abstract: Fatima Jinnah served as Patron‑in‑Chief of the West Pakistan Tuberculosis Association (later T.B. Patients Welfare Association). Documents include her speech urging a national war against tuberculosis, a Rs. 5,000 donation, her agreement to visit the Lahore T.B. Welfare Centre (May 1957), an appeal for the “EID T.B. SEAL SALE” (April 1958), and a letter seeking her help to admit two young T.B. patients to the Karachi Sanatorium (1968).
Description: The collection includes Fatima Jinnah’s powerful speech (delivered between 1956‑1958) calling for volunteer action, community development, and cooperation to fight the “white scourge.” Correspondence shows her donating Rs. 5,100 to the Association, accepting an invitation to visit their Lahore centre, and issuing a printed appeal for the 1958 EID T.B. Seal Sale week. Later, a concerned citizen (Khalid‑bin‑Jaffar) asks her to intercede for two young National Guards suffering from T.B., and she replies that she will try to find the sanatorium authorities. Her role as a benevolent patron is further detailed in the Association’s annual report. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
