Abstract: This file contains correspondence and administrative records from 1954–1956 regarding the allotment of land in Blocks IV and V, Karachi, for the Khatoon-i-Pakistan Girls High School (also referred to as Miss Fatima Jinnah’s Girls School). The Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Health and Works, by letter dated 25 May 1954, transferred government land to the Karachi Improvement Trust for development, earmarking 13.6 acres (plus a disputed 3.4-acre triangular plot) for Miss Fatima Jinnah’s school, adjacent to the Domestic Science College for Women. The letter also allocated land for other national institutions (two Arabic Schools for Kuwait Government, Liaquat Memorial Library) and cooperative housing societies. Subsequent documents include Miss Fatima Jinnah’s authorization for Mr. Hasan A. Shaikh to take possession of the land (24 June 1954), a possession certificate, correspondence regarding the release of the remaining 3.4 acres, and a letter from the Director of Education, Karachi (6 June 1956), requesting a building grant of Rs. 1,50,000 (equal to the amount already collected by the Board) for the school, to be matched by government funds.

Description: This file contains official correspondence from 1954–1956 documenting the government’s allotment of land in Karachi’s Blocks IV and V for the construction of a girls’ high school under the auspices of Miss Fatima Jinnah’s Khatoon-i-Pakistan Education and Welfare Board. The documents include a detailed government order outlining the transfer of land to the Karachi Improvement Trust, the earmarking of 13.6 acres (plus 3.4 acres to be adjusted) for the school, Miss Jinnah’s letter authorising possession, a possession certificate, follow-up correspondence for the remaining land, and a 1956 application for a building grant of Rs. 1,50,000 to match the Board’s collected funds. The file illustrates the administrative process and government support for establishing an educational institution named after the “Khatoon-i-Pakistan” (Miss Fatima Jinnah) in the mid-1950s.
