Abstract: This file contains official documents related to the Khatoon-i-Pakistan Education and Welfare Board from 1953 to 1956. A Government of Pakistan Ministry of Finance notification (13 March 1953) approves the Board for income tax exemption under section 15D of the Income Tax Act, 1922. A letter from the Board’s Honorary Secretary (28 March 1953) to Miss Fatima Jinnah encloses the registration certificate and the tax exemption notification, and notes that a current account has been opened at Habib Bank Ltd., Victoria Road, Karachi. A letter from Miss Fatima Jinnah (President) to the Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (4 April 1953) requests allotment of 12–15 acres of land for a model girls’ high school with playgrounds, hostel, and kindergarten. Meeting notices for 2 July 1956 (with agenda: confirmation of minutes, review of activities, proposal to take over Muslim Women Industrial Home and Technical Institute) are included.

Description: This file contains official records from 1953 to 1956 documenting the establishment and early activities of the Khatoon-i-Pakistan Education and Welfare Board, chaired by Miss Fatima Jinnah. Key documents include a government notification granting income tax exemption, letters regarding land acquisition for a model girls’ high school in Karachi, meeting agendas, a printed rules and regulations booklet, and construction company correspondence about pipe and cement deliveries for the school building. The materials illustrate Miss Fatima Jinnah’s role in promoting women’s education and the administrative and logistical steps involved in setting up an educational institution in early Pakistan.
