Abstract: Correspondence and administrative documents from August to November 1958 related to the Khatoon-i-Pakistan Education and Welfare Board and the construction of the Khatoon-i-Pakistan Girls High School in Karachi. A letter from Hasan S. Shaikh (Honorary Secretary) to Dr. I. H. Zuberi (Educational Adviser, Ministry of Education) on 4 August 1958 complains that a building grant application made in March has not been answered and papers have not reached the Ministry. A detailed application to the Director of Education (signed by Miss Fatima Jinnah as President and Hasan S. Shaikh) states total construction cost as Rs. 10,49,255-0-9, plus furniture (Rs. 1,50,000), electric fittings (Rs. 20,000), science apparatus (Rs. 2,00,000), and books (Rs. 1,00,000). Having already received Rs. 1,50,000, they request the balance of Rs. 6,00,000 to pay pending bills and start the institution. Correspondence between Miss Fatima Jinnah’s secretary (Shaique Ahmed) and Hasan S. Shaikh discusses interview of candidates (Mr. Maqsood Husain, Miss Zainab Khan) and the need for a P.T. teacher.
Description: This file contains administrative correspondence from 1958 related to the Khatoon-i-Pakistan Girls High School project under the patronage of Miss Fatima Jinnah. Key documents include a follow‑up on a delayed building grant application, a detailed cost breakdown requesting Rs. 6,00,000 balance grant, correspondence about staff interviews, a report on water pipe repair, a request for contribution to electric infrastructure costs, and a request for exemption from personal appearance to sign an agreement. The records illustrate the challenges of fundraising, government coordination, and construction management for an educational institution in late‑1950s Karachi.
