A letter (25 February 1958) from Miss Fatima Jinnah to Ahmed B. Khan acknowledges receipt of a cheque for Rs. 500 as a contribution to the Khatoon-i-Pakistan Education & Welfare Board, enclosing a receipt.
Description: This file contains a mixed collection of records from the late 1940s to 1958. The first part documents the construction of the Khatoon-e-Pakistan Girls High School in Karachi, with detailed itemised bills from Haydari Construction Company for materials (cement, wood, paints, tiles, etc.) and labour (block making, plastering, road work, etc.) in February 1958, along with a letter from Miss Fatima Jinnah acknowledging a donation. The second part comprises the educational credentials of Altaf Kureishy, including a Liverpool University Diploma in Education, a Karachi University M.A. in Islamic History, an Aligarh B.A., a Montessori teaching certificate, and a Y.W.C.A. reference. The juxtaposition of construction accounts and personal academic records is unusual; the documents may have been filed together incidentally. The construction bills provide insight into the costs of building a girls’ school under Miss Fatima Jinnah’s patronage, while the certificates illustrate the qualifications of an educator from the same period.
