Abstract: This file contains correspondence and administrative records regarding property tax disputes and transfer of ownership for two buildings in Karachi housing the Muslim Women Industrial Home and the Muslim Ladies Technical & Industrial Institute, both charitable institutions under the patronage of Miss Fatima Jinnah. A letter from Ghulam Ahmed (Secretary to Miss Fatima Jinnah) requests revised municipal tax bills from February 1948 onwards, excluding demand notice fees. A meeting notice (28 January 1987) schedules a committee meeting to review the institution’s working, elect office-bearers, and consider pending bill payments. Letters from Miss Fatima Jinnah to municipal officials request the change of property name from “Khalsa School” to “Muslim Women Industrial Home” and exemption of general tax (Rs. 283/10/-) as the institution is charitable.

Description: This file contains correspondence from 1956 and 1987 concerning property tax issues for two buildings in Karachi used by women’s vocational institutions under Miss Fatima Jinnah’s patronage. Documents include requests for revised tax bills, name transfer from the defunct Khalsa School, exemption of general tax for charitable purposes, and enclosures of multiple tax and land rent bills. A meeting notice from 1987 (likely a later misfiled document) shows continued committee activity. The records illustrate the administrative and financial challenges of running charitable institutions in post‑Partition Karachi. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
