Abstract: This file contains ten pages of administrative and financial records related to the Muslim Ladies Technical & Industrial Institute (Nanakwada, Karachi), patronised by Miss Fatima Jinnah. Documents include a principal’s request for a salary increment (14 January 1956), a letter seeking appointment of two or three ladies as cheque signatories (17 December 1956), a letter to the National Bank of India Ltd. notifying changes in signatories (December 1956), a reminder for the increment after one year (17 December 1956), a note requesting Begum Shirazee to sign increment papers (18 April 1957), and a letter (29 June 1964) to the Deputy Director, Industrial for Girls, West Pakistan, Lahore, explaining audit objections (no budget provision, need for counter‑signature) on a grant‑in‑aid of Rs. 8,000 for 1963‑64. Minutes of a Managing Committee meeting (27 April 1964) chaired by Miss Fatima Jinnah record decisions on staff annual increments, follow‑up on grant‑in‑aid, furniture repairs, fee increase for the first shift, budget deficit, notices to unsatisfactory staff, and appointment of a new headmistress.
Description: This file contains a range of documents from 1956 to 1964 concerning the Muslim Ladies Technical & Industrial Institute in Karachi, which operated under the patronage of Miss Fatima Jinnah. The records include routine administrative requests (salary increments, bank signatory changes), official correspondence about a delayed government grant‑in‑aid, and minutes of a managing committee meeting presided over by Miss Jinnah, where staff increments, fee adjustments, and staff discipline were discussed. The file also includes a detailed anonymous complaint letter accusing the principal of financial irregularities, exploitation of trainees (who pay fees and prepare samples at their own cost, which are then sold or used in lotteries), unfair treatment, and allowing a peon to behave improperly. The complainant urges Miss Jinnah to conduct a personal investigation. These documents illustrate both the normal administrative functioning and the internal tensions and allegations of mismanagement within a women’s vocational training institute patronised by a national leader.
