Abstract: This file contains seven pages of campaign documents from Miss Fatima Jinnah’s presidential election bid in 1964–65. Page 1 is a detailed tour programme for Lower Punjab and Upper Sind (3–9 December 1964), listing train arrivals and departures in Multan, Bahawalpur, Rohri, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Karachi. Page 2 is an earlier tour programme (1–15 October 1964) covering Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Hyderabad, Karachi, and Dacca, noting that she would be accompanied by Al‑Haj Khwaja Nazimuddin, Choudhry Mohammed Ali, and others. Page 3 is a statement by Miss Fatima Jinnah after concluding her tour, asserting that the people overwhelmingly support democracy, that concentration of power in one man is dangerous, and that she does not propose to abolish the Basic Democracy system but to strengthen it as local self‑government.
Description: This file contains campaign itineraries and a political statement issued by Miss Fatima Jinnah during her 1964–65 presidential election campaign against Field Marshal Ayub Khan. The tour programmes detail her travel schedule by train and air across West and East Pakistan, including public meetings in major cities. Her statement after the tour defends the Basic Democracy system as a local government institution, denies any intention to abolish it, and expresses confidence that the Electoral College will vote according to the people’s verdict. The accompanying speech excerpts argue forcefully for direct adult franchise, condemn martial law as an imposition on innocent people, and assert that the failure of parliamentary democracy was due to lack of fair trial, not inherent flaws. The documents reflect the organisational scale of her campaign and her core democratic platform. The file was scanned by the National Archives of Pakistan. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
