Abstract: This file contains campaign documents from Miss Fatima Jinnah’s presidential election bid against Field Marshal Ayub Khan in 1964–65. A tour programme (1–15 October 1964) covers Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Hyderabad, Karachi, and Dacca, noting that she would be accompanied by Al‑Haj Khwaja Nazimuddin, Choudhry Mohammed Ali, and others. Another tour programme (26–30 October 1964) covers Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sukkur, Larkana, and other cities in Sind. District‑wise Electoral College seat lists are provided for West Pakistan (e.g., Lahore 2313, Karachi 1907, Multan 2521) and East Pakistan (e.g., Mymensingh 5520, Dacca 3396, Comilla 3613).
Description: This file contains essential campaign materials from Miss Fatima Jinnah’s 1964–65 presidential election campaign. The tour programmes detail her travel schedule across both wings of Pakistan, highlighting the organisational scale of her challenge to Ayub Khan. The Electoral College seat lists provide a snapshot of the indirect electoral system she sought to replace with direct adult franchise. The Lahore speech is a powerful political address: she invokes the historic Lahore Resolution, laments the gap between the rulers and the people, criticises the regime’s development policies as benefiting only a few, and dismisses Ayub Khan’s personal attacks. She asserts that unity among opposition parties strengthens rather than destroys Pakistan, and calls on the people to reclaim their sovereign rights. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
