Abstract: This file contains a set of political documents from the 1964–65 presidential election campaign in Pakistan, when Miss Fatima Jinnah was the candidate of the Combined Opposition Parties against President Ayub Khan. A letter (23 September 1964) from the Working Committee of the Pakistan Nizami-Islam Party (Lahore District) congratulates her on accepting the nomination and condemns the government’s undemocratic restrictions (detentions, press controls, Section 144). A proforma pledge for Electoral College members commits signatories to support the Nine‑Point Programme and vote for Miss Jinnah.

Description: This file contains a diverse set of political documents from the 1964–65 presidential election campaign in Pakistan, when Miss Fatima Jinnah stood as the candidate of the Combined Opposition Parties against President Ayub Khan. The documents illustrate the organisational structure, strategy, and internal dynamics of the opposition. A congratulatory letter from a Lahore‑based party committee condemns government restrictions and pledges loyalty. A standardised pledge form was used to secure commitments from Electoral College members. Resolutions of the Steering Committee list key opposition leaders and define committee structures. A letter from Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (future founding leader of Bangladesh) reveals tensions with the National Democratic Front and the need for a unified opposition conference.
