The first page lists printing machinery (rotary machines, Linotype machines, etc.) with specifications. A note mentions a conversation with Mr. Kazmi about advertising clearances for the Dawn Trust. A lengthy letter (in Urdu) from Rawalpindi (15th Jumadi-us-Sani, 1369 A.H.) discusses the global struggle between truth and falsehood, criticizes the suspension of Karachi Dawn, and condemns the actions of Pakistan Herald Ltd. A resolution by the Newspapers Agents and Hawkers of Karachi resolves to boycott Herald, Naqib, and Pak Samachar, calls for the return of Dawn to the Dawn Trust, and condemns the violent attitude of the directors.

Description: This file contains records of the Dawn Trust, a wakf established by Quaid-i-Azam M.A. Jinnah, and the dispute over the control of the Dawn newspaper. An inventory lists printing machinery. Correspondence reveals a struggle to restore the newspaper to the Trust after it was taken over by Pakistan Herald Ltd. Newspaper agents and hawkers passed a resolution boycotting the successor publications. An anonymous appeal pleads for help for a destitute former editor of Dawn. A former employee seeks unpaid wages. Miss Fatima Jinnah, as court-appointed trustee, issued letters demanding that advertisers and others pay all dues to the Trust. A pamphlet and press statement criticize Altaf Husain and demand action. A draft letter from Miss Jinnah and Liaquat Ali Khan (as trustees) to Pakistan Herald Ltd. demanded handover of the newspaper. The documents illustrate Miss Fatima Jinnah’s role as a trustee seeking to protect Quaid-i-Azam’s legacy and the legal and public struggle over one of Pakistan’s most historic newspapers.
