Abstract: A collection of 1966 documents related to repairs and maintenance at Miss Fatima Jinnah’s residence (Qasr-e-Fatima, Clifton, Karachi). Includes a plumbing estimate (Rs. 707), a receipt for Rs. 40 paid to a plumber, a rate list for whitewash and paint, a radio repair cash memo (Rs. 47.50), a detailed letter from an interior decorator disputing a payment (bill reduced from Rs. 1830 to Rs. 1522), two identical quotations for electrical wiring (Rs. 3020), and a veterinary bill.
Description: Plumber Shafi Mohammad acknowledges Rs. 40 received for work (January 21, 1966). Khan & Co. provides a detailed estimate for sanitary works including W.C., flush tanks, pipes, and labour totalling Rs. 707 (undated). A painter lists rates for whitewash, distemper, oil paint, plastic paint, and spirit polish. Wadood Electric Works submits two identical quotations of Rs. 3020 for main wiring and earthing at “Mohatta Palace” (February 23, 1966). Interior decorator Abul Barkat writes a lengthy appeal (February 26, 1966) explaining a payment dispute: his original bill of Rs. 1830 was reduced to Rs. 1522 after Miss Jinnah insisted on measurement‑based pricing, and he requests early payment due to financial hardship. A radio repair shop charges Rs. 47.50 for leasing/repair (February 19, 1966). Dr. A.M.K. Rao’s veterinary bill (February 28, 1966) includes “Fastie‑Glue Cartridges” and consultation fee.
