Abstract: A collection of insurance and registration documents for Miss Fatima Jinnah’s vehicles (1948‑1965). Includes a 1948 tax calculation for a vehicle, a 1949 comprehensive insurance policy for a 1939 Packard saloon (registration KAM‑1327) through Ashruff & Co./Habib Insurance Company (premium Rs. 250), a certificate of insurance (valid 23 Sept 1949 – 22 Sept 1950), a cover note, a detailed tool inventory for the Packard, and later correspondence about a water pump airfreight charge (1963) and a self‑starter repair (1964). Also includes standard policy endorsements for replacement parts and legal liability for drivers.
Description: The earliest document (September 1948) shows tax calculation of Rs. 63/4 for a vehicle for the period 25 Sept 1948 to 30 June 1949. A comprehensive policy (Policy No. HM/49/A/1146) issued 4 July 1949 covers a 1939 Packard saloon (30 H.P., value Rs. 7,500) for one year, including third party liability, loss/damage, and medical expenses up to Rs. 350. The tool inventory lists 23 items (spanners, jack, pump, grease gun, etc.) and notes the car is “in perfect order and complete with tools.” Later documents include a 1963 invoice for airfreight on a Cadillac water pump (Rs. 220.75) and a 1964 bill for replacing a self‑starter spring (Rs. 26). Standard policy endorsements explain “replacement parts” limitation and legal liability for paid drivers. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
