Abstract: Miss Fatima Jinnah to pay Rs. 608 for a new telephone connection at Flagstaff House, Karachi. Later correspondence (1965‑1966) from the Accounts Officer and her secretary disputes a consolidated bill of Rs. 847.12 for 14 months of calls, questioning excessive metering and delayed billing. After meter testing, the bill is paid under protest, and a subsequent letter seeks payment of Rs. 238 for uncollected installation fees.

Description: The earliest document (19 March 1949) is a Demand Note from the Executive Engineer, Telephone District, Karachi, requesting Rs. 608 for installing one telephone connection with one plug and three sockets at Flagstaff House, including yearly rent and installation charges. In August 1965, the Accounts Officer explains that the telephone (No. 54412) was opened as a casual connection without proper formalities, leading to delayed billing. Miss Fatima Jinnah’s secretary protests a Rs. 847.12 bill for 14 months, claiming minimal calls due to her absence; the meter is tested and found correct, but she pays under protest. A March 1966 letter seeks payment of Rs. 238 for the original installation fee never collected, and another letter complains about a duplicate bill for Rs. 28.40 already paid.
