Abstract: Miss Fatima Jinnah’s Flagstaff House residence: an estimate for rebuilding the compound wall (Rs. 14,910/8), a separate estimate for a door and screen wall (August 1953), a letter chiding a painter for not starting work (February 1958), a police report about a neighbour demolishing part of the wall while she was in Europe, orders for truckloads of gutter manure for gardening (1961), and a 1920 property deed (Form B) for the original Staff Lines property.
Description: A detailed estimate from Haji Chandu Building for dismantling and rebuilding the compound wall on three sides of Flagstaff House totals Rs. 14,910/8, including rubble masonry, concrete jail, iron gates, and colourwashing. An estimate dated 6 August 1953 covers a door and a screen wall in the rear yard. On 25 February 1958, her secretary writes to painter Murad Baksh, asking why he has not started the approved painting work. An undated police report states that neighbour Raza Ali demolished part of the compound wall without permission while Miss Jinnah was in Europe. Two letters (25 September and 15 December 1961) request gutter manure from the Sewage Farm for her bungalow. Finally, a copy of Form B under the Cantonment Code 1912, executed on 5 August 1920, relates to property at 8 Staff Lines, Karachi. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
