Abstract: A handwritten tax note (23 December 1950) details payments for Miss Fatima Jinnah’s Staff Lines bungalow: house tax, urban property tax, and conservancy tax totalling Rs. 276/6, plus Lahore property tax (Rs. 351). Cantonment Board receipts from 1960‑1961 acknowledge payments of house tax and conservancy tax (e.g., Rs. 209, Rs. 261/25, Rs. 350). Bills for half‑year ending 31 December 1961 show house tax and conservancy tax demands.
Description: The first document (23 December 1950) is a detailed handwritten note listing taxes for Miss Jinnah’s Staff Lines bungalow in Karachi: house tax (Rs. 130/11), urban property tax (Rs. 130/11), and conservancy tax (Rs. 15) for half‑year Oct 1950 – March 1951, with cheque numbers. It also includes land rent for Spencer & Co. (Rs. 19/1) and Lahore property house tax (Rs. 351) for 1 March 1950 to 31 August 1951. Multiple Cantonment Board receipts (Form Cantt 4‑B) from 1960‑1961 show payments of house tax and conservancy tax, including a receipt of Rs. 261/25 (9 February 1961) for house tax. A half‑yearly house tax bill (31 December 1961) for S/K 241/5226 shows an amount of Rs. 81/99, and a conservancy tax bill (undated) for the same property lists annual value and tax due. These documents illustrate the routine payment of municipal and cantonment taxes for Miss Jinnah’s Karachi and Lahore properties. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
