Abstract: Bank correspondence from 1965–1967 shows Miss Fatima Jinnah’s current account (No. 111) with Habib Bank’s Elphinstone Street Branch, Karachi, with balances ranging from Rs. 61,126 to Rs. 88,991. Documents include bank confirmation letters, signed verification slips, a statement of account (entries for July 1963 showing Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 15,000 credits), and a Urdu letter from Anjuman Taraqqi‑e‑Urdu Pakistan requesting a donation for their college building, with instruction to transfer funds from her account.
Description: The majority of the documents are printed bank forms from Habib Bank Limited’s Elphinstone Street Branch, Saddar Karachi. A letter dated 1 January 1966 requests Miss Jinnah to verify a balance of Rs. 61,126/97 as of 31 December 1965. Her signed confirmation (page 8) accepts this balance. Another letter (1 July 1967) shows a balance of Rs. 61,626/9. A two‑line bank statement (page 16) records a credit of Rs. 15,000 on 9 December (year unclear, likely 1963). A handwritten Urdu letter (page 13) from the president of Anjuman Taraqqi‑e‑Urdu Pakistan appeals for financial help to complete a college building, requesting Miss Jinnah to authorise a transfer from her current account. A small postage stamp (page 14) advertises Habib Insurance Co. Ltd. These documents illustrate her ongoing banking relationships and charitable engagements. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
