Abstract: Letters from Miss Fatima Jinnah to the National Bank of India Ltd., Karachi (1948), enclosing cheques totalling several thousand rupees for credit to her current account, and requesting passbook updates. Bank replies include a credit advice for a dividend warrant (Rs. 3,539/4/8), a 1951 year‑end balance confirmation (credit balance of Rs. 22,73,009?), and a request to complete a new specimen signature card (1952).
Description: Miss Jinnah sends two cheques (Rs. 1,266/10/8 and Rs. 2,000) drawn on Habib Bank to her current account at National Bank of India, requesting a slip book. On 19 October, she sends two more cheques (Rs. 2,578/2 and Rs. 515/10). On 21 October, she sends her passbook for updating. A bank letter (undated, likely 1948) credits her account with Rs. 3,539/4/8 from a dividend warrant on Bombay. A balance confirmation as of 31 December 1951 shows a credit of Rs. 22,73,009? (the handwritten figure is ambiguous). On 18 March 1952, the bank requests her to complete a new specimen signature card for revised record‑keeping. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
