Abstract: Bank letters (1953‑1966) from Habib Bank’s Camp and Saddar Branches to the “Khatoon‑e‑Pakistan Education & Welfare Board” (connected to Miss Fatima Jinnah at Flag Staff House, Karachi) confirming current account balances (e.g., Rs. 94,670, Rs. 24,214, Rs. 87,842). Also includes an appeal from the Society for Children in Need of Special Attention (Scinosa Day Home), the only institution in Pakistan training mentally retarded children, requesting donations and offering a bank debit authorization form.
Description: The documents consist of printed bank forms and handwritten replies. A 1953 letter requests a statement for account No. 3227. Balance confirmations from 1960‑1966 show credit balances fluctuating between Rs. 24,000 and Rs. 94,000, with interest credits. One letter (5 September 1962) acknowledges a standing instruction for monthly statements. The final document is a printed appeal from the Society for Children in Need of Special Attention (Karachi), describing the problem of mental retardation in Pakistan (3 million affected, 1 million added annually) and the Society’s “Scinosa Day Home” which trains over 36 children. It includes a bank debit authorization form for donations, tax‑exempt under Section 15‑D of the Income Tax Act. These records reflect Miss Fatima Jinnah’s involvement in educational and welfare boards, as well as her bank account management. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
