Abstract: A collection of letters from 1948‑1949, some addressed directly to Miss Fatima Jinnah and others to the Premier of Sind or the Administrator of Karachi. Includes an offer of military blankets for refugees from a firm in Dar es Salaam (Tanganyika), a refugee’s petition about losing his job at Karachi Port Trust due to a corrupt Hindu inspector, a woman’s request for evacuee property for her family, and correspondence between the Premier’s secretariat and a Mr. H. Mohammed Khan regarding interview requests.

Description: A letter (2 January 1949) from S. K. Jaffer Alloo in Dar es Salaam offers 50,000‑55,000 government surplus woollen blankets for refugees at prices between 6/8d and 8/11d per blanket, waiving his 5% commission. A refugee, Sir Rajinder Nath (11 April 1949), writes to Miss Jinnah claiming he was wrongfully discharged from his watchman job at Karachi Port Trust after refusing to pay a bribe to Inspector Hira Lal, and begs for her intervention. Bibi Habibun Nissa (undated) requests Miss Jinnah’s help in allotting evacuee property to her family; her husband, a former criminal practitioner from Bihar, now works as a petition writer in Karachi. Additional letters (August‑November 1948) between the Premier’s secretariat and H. Mohammed Khan arrange interviews and note the Premier’s illness. Another refugee, Mohammed Khan (27 January 1949), petitions the Administrator of Karachi for an interview. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
