Abstract: A set of petitions from 1951‑1961 seeking Miss Fatima Jinnah’s intervention. A blanket factory in Sukkur (1951) requests a direct order for 4,000‑5,000 blankets for refugees. A pardah nishin woman from Rohri (1951) details a false robbery case filed against her by a corrupt head munishi who had her jailed with male prisoners; the court later discharged her. Residents of Khudadad Colony (1951) plead to save their 600 pucca houses from demolition by a government employees’ housing society. A 1961 eviction complaint from a long‑term resident of Karachi is copied to Miss Jinnah.
Description: The earliest document (6 January 1951) from Hafiz Abdul Latif of Sukkur offers to manufacture blankets for refugees at lower prices if the order is placed directly. A lengthy complaint (pages 2‑5) from Mst. Motul w/o Hussain Bux Qureshi of Rohri describes how Head Munishi Abdul Hamid, a magistrate, falsely implicated her under section 379 P.P.C., had her arrested, detained in sub‑jail with male prisoners, and later discharged by the court (discharge order attached, pages 6‑8). She appeals to Fatima Jinnah as “mother of all women in Pakistan.” A 5 November 1951 petition from the Anjuman Khudadad Colony (Karachi) details the colony’s 600 pucca houses built by 8,000 refugees on land allotted by the Collector in 1948, now threatened by the Pakistan Government Employees Co‑operative Housing Society; they request regularisation. Finally, a 27 October 1961 letter to the Prime Minister, copied to Miss Jinnah, complains about the Administrator of Karachi evicting a family from a 12‑year‑old home with only three days’ notice.
