Abstract: A set of documents from 1948‑1960, many addressed to or copied to Miss Fatima Jinnah. Includes a widow’s petition about a shop auctioned despite her claim, testimonials for a Kashmiri journalist and editor, a government servant’s request for house allotment in Jacobabad, a proposed scheme for permanent rehabilitation of refugees on urban evacuee property, complaints of corruption at Jinnah Hospital, and a plea from residents of Khulna facing displacement due to road widening.
Description: A 1960 petition from a poor widow describes how a shop already transferred to her in compensation was auctioned to another person; she appeals for justice. Testimonials from 1948 (by Q. Abdullah and K.H. Ghulamdin Wani) praise Chaudhri Abdul‑Wahid (also referred to as Chagaddi Wali) for his work as editor of the Kashmir newspaper “Islami” (or “Islah”) and as president of Kashmir Press Conference. A government servant at Jacobabad (1950) requests allotment of a vacant house, noting that the S.D.O. refused it. An undated “Scheme of permanent Rehabilitation of Refugees” outlines valuation principles for urban evacuee property. Two letters (undated, early 1950s) complain about misconduct at Jinnah Hospital, including a driver used privately by a colonel and a head clerk demanding a refugee’s sister for employment. Finally, residents of Daultpur, Khulna (undated) appeal against acquisition of their land for Jessore Road widening, arguing that earth can be taken from the vacant opposite side.
