Abstract: A set of letters from November–December 1960 in which Miss Fatima Jinnah or her secretary respond to various requests. She declines invitations to attend Quaid‑i‑Azam’s birthday celebrations in Lahore (preferring to stay in Karachi to place flowers on his mazar), to preside over a meeting, to visit a school, and to grant an interview to Begum G.A. Khan (regarding Lady Baden‑Powell). She also sends an autograph, declines patronage of a kindergarten school, and thanks a sender for books but states she does not write forwards.
Description: Miss Jinnah writes to Nawabzada Rashid Ali Khan that she cannot attend Quaid‑i‑Azam’s birthday event in Lahore because she wishes to place flowers on his grave in Karachi. She similarly declines to preside over a Quaid‑e‑Azam Society meeting (18 November) and to visit the New Method School (29 November). Her secretary informs Begum G.A. Khan that Miss Jinnah cannot grant an interview for Lady Baden‑Powell (17 November). She sends an autographed photograph to Mr. Aniq Ahmed Shah (9 November) and declines to become Patron‑in‑Chief of the Fatima Jinnah Kindergarten School in Dacca (undated). A request to dedicate a book to her is noted but no consent is recorded. These letters illustrate Miss Jinnah’s reserved public role and her devotion to her brother’s memory.
