Abstract: A collection of telegrams and one letter from Miss Fatima Jinnah to Begum Wahed (September 1949). Telegrams include appeals from Muhajirs in Naushahro against an unjust “mukata” tax; a report of a kidnapping where victims were recaptured with lethal weapons; a request not to disturb a garden contract on which 16 refugee families depend; invitations to preside over Iqbal Day in Lahore; a request to expedite a press permit change; and a plea for help regarding nine years of service. The letter thanks Begum Wahed for condolences on Quaid‑i‑Azam’s first death anniversary.

Description: A brief reply from Miss Fatima Jinnah to Begum Wahed, thanking her for a sympathy telegram on the first anniversary of Quaid‑i‑Azam’s death, and expressing hope that Pakistani women will contribute to building the nation. The telegrams cover a range of urgent issues: a telegram from “All Muhajir Taluka Naushahro” (12 February 1951) complains that a “mukata” tax is imposed only there and nowhere else in Pakistan, and the poor Muhajirs cannot pay, requesting her early intervention. A telegram from Rahimdino Obhayo Mirbahir (undated) describes the kidnapping of his cousin’s wife and daughter, their escape, and recapture by about 40 men with lethal instruments; he fears for their lives and asks for immediate action. Ahsamullah (undated) reports that possession of a garden in Hyderabad was delivered to Hoddali despite a contract, and requests orders not to disturb the contract on which 16 refugee families depend. The Central Iqbal Committee (undated) invites her to preside over Iqbal Day in Lahore and offers hospitality at Faletti’s Hotel. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
