Abstract: A collection of documents from the Quaid‑i‑Azam’s Relief Fund files (1951‑1963), with copies routinely sent to Miss Fatima Jinnah. Includes a request for a Rs. 5 lakh grant for flood victims in Khulna district (May 1951), detailed notes on the famine situation there, agenda for the 28th Central Committee meeting (21 May 1963) covering winter clothing purchases and refugee relief, a letter from West Punjab Provincial Committee seeking Rs. 4,95,000 for razais, and a confidential file regarding adjustment of Rs. 1 lakh from the Fund to a suspense account – money given to the Khan of Mandot during the Kashmir and Palestine week in 1948.

Description: Letter from the Governor of East Bengal requesting Rs. 5 lakhs from the Fund for flood relief in Khulna district, where an embankment collapse had destroyed crops and caused starvation. Attached notes (6‑8 May 1951) describe emaciated victims, and recommend a Central Relief Committee, food grain supply, medicine, and cloth. A 1961 meeting agenda (12 May 1961) lists flood relief and refugee items. The 28th meeting agenda (21 May 1963) seeks ex‑post‑facto sanction for purchase of 6,000 blankets, overcoats, and jackets, and requests grants for refugee students and flood relief in East Punjab. A 1951 letter from the West Punjab Provincial Committee asks for Rs. 4,95,000 for razais. A confidential file (October 1951) reveals a dispute over Rs. 1 lakh given to the ex‑Premier of Punjab (Khan of Mandot) during the 1948 Kashmir and Palestine week – the money was advanced from a suspense account and never repaid; the Provincial Committee approved adjusting it from the Relief Fund, but central approval was sought. These documents illustrate the fund’s operations and Miss Jinnah’s nominal oversight. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
