Abstract: A set of five letters and notes from 1957‑1958 addressed to or involving Miss Fatima Jinnah. Topics include defects in Pakistan’s import policy favouring established businessmen; a proposal for voluntary tax disclosure to recover crores of rupees; a call for a plebiscite to decide the status of Karachi; a request for Miss Jinnah to lead a non‑political social and economic reform organization; and a critique of a proposed 500‑room hotel in Karachi that would cost over four crores in foreign exchange.
Description: Pakistan’s import policy for benefiting large businessmen and suggest a limited period for voluntary tax payment before stringent enforcement. A separate note (undated) argues that Karachi’s status – whether a separate province, centrally administered area, or merged with West Pakistan – should be decided by a plebiscite of its residents. A longer letter (post‑1958) proposes that Miss Jinnah convene a conference of eminent citizens to address social and economic problems such as cleanliness, saving, housing, water, and beggars, attaching a list of 11 general problems. Finally, a letter (after October 1958) opposes a large hotel project in Karachi, arguing that four crores of foreign exchange could be better used for essential national projects.
