A proposal to start an illustrated monthly women’s journal “Khatoon-e-Pakistan” under her patronage (undated, with a follow‑up request for her life sketch). A letter from The Zindegi seeking the full text of condolence messages received on Quaid‑i‑Azam’s death for a book to appear on the 40th day. A plea from a refugee newspaper auditor and press owner in Lahore for financial help. A request from a Tamil daily in Penang (Dhesa Nesan) for a message for a special number on Quaid‑i‑Azam’s birthday (25 December 1948). An announcement of the revival of the monthly “Sada-i-Niswan” (formerly published from Delhi) seeking her interest and help. A proposal to start an Urdu daily “Siasat” in Karachi requesting her patronage. Finally, an appeal from the editors of “Education of Pakistan” magazine for donations and a message.
Description: An undated proposal from Ms. Shafiq asks to publish a monthly journal “Khatoon-e-Pakistan” under her patronage; a subsequent letter (likely 1948) requests her life sketch for a permanent feature “Meet Her”. The Zindegi (Karachi) writes after Quaid‑i‑Azam’s death seeking all condolence messages for a book to be published on the 40th day. Sayed Najababin Hussain, a refugee from Delhi running a newspaper “Reasat” and a press in Lahore, appeals for financial help due to loss of property in India. The Dhesa Nesan Publishing Co. (Penang, Malaya) requests a message for a special birthday number for Quaid‑i‑Azam (25 December 1948). The managing editor of “Sada-i-Niswan” announces the revival of this women’s magazine (formerly published from Delhi under Miss Jinnah’s patronage) and seeks her continued interest. Altafur Rahman proposes to start an Urdu daily “Siasat” in Karachi and requests her patronage. Finally, a supplement to “Education of Pakistan” (April 1949) appeals for donations from merchant princes and well‑to‑do citizens, and requests her opinion and a message. These documents illustrate Miss Jinnah’s role as a patron of journalism and literature, and the many requests for her support, messages, and biographical information.
