Abstract: Letter declining a salary donation for DAWN; her correspondence with Itrat Husain Zuberi about establishing Jinnah Islamic Institute in Rajshahi and authorising him to compile a definitive edition of Quaid‑i‑Azam’s speeches; DAWN’s request to publish Zuberi’s public appeal for source material; and a former Lino‑Operator’s plea to recover unpaid wages from “DANI”, with his termination letter dated 22 October 1947.

Description: Miss Jinnah thanked Sajjad Hydar for his selfless offer of one month’s salary for DAWN but explained she was not collecting money for that purpose. In July 1950 she wrote to Itrat Husain Zuberi, who had founded the Jinnah Islamic Institute in Rajshahi, expressing willingness to meet and provide material for his proposed chronological edition of Quaid‑i‑Azam’s early speeches. Zuberi’s public request for documents, dated 17 January 1951, claimed authorisation by “Khatoon‑i‑Pakistan”. A February 1951 note from DAWN’s Assistant Editor forwarded Zuberi’s letter for Miss Jinnah’s approval. Separate documents show a former Lino‑Operator (Sultan Khan) of “DANI” (a Delhi‑based establishment) complaining of unpaid salary and overtime from August‑September 1947, and enclosing his termination letter from DANI Karachi dated 22 October 1947, which ended his services effective 22 November 1947. Miss Jinnah’s secretary returned Zuberi’s letter to DAWN clarifying that Miss Jinnah’s reply did not constitute authorisation for publication. These papers illustrate Miss Jinnah’s involvement in literary projects, media relations, and her office’s handling of personal appeals. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
