Abstract: A letter dated 1 March 1958 from the Millat Organising Committee, Karachi, to Miss Fatima Jinnah, enclosing a resolution adopted unanimously on 27 February 1958. The resolution requests her not to accept any office in any political party, including the Muslim League, so that her patronage remains equally available to all citizens. It cites Quaid‑i‑Azam’s precedent of resigning as Muslim League President after becoming Governor‑General.
Description: The letter, signed “H. M.” on behalf of Dr. Md. Yaseen Zubairi, respectfully submits the resolution to draw her attention to the teeming millions who look upon her as the guiding supreme figure. The resolution argues that her exalted position and recent utterances have saved the country on critical occasions, and no party should try to bring her down for its own limited objectives. It concludes by expressing the people’s expectation that she will follow Quaid‑i‑Azam’s footsteps in the larger interest of Pakistan. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
