Abstract: A petition from Hassan Bibi, widow of late Mohammad Hussain (Postal Clerk, Sialkot), addressed to Miss Fatima Jinnah. She seeks intervention to secure family pension and other benefits introduced by the Government of Pakistan’s Ministry of Finance Memorandum of 24 March 1954. Her husband served over 27 years and died suddenly in May 1954; the Sialkot Divisional Office failed to obtain the required declaration from him. The widow and four orphans are in danger of starvation.

Description: The petition explains that the deceased husband had served the Postal Department for more than 27 years and died of heart failure on 11/12 May 1954. The new pension rules were issued by the Ministry of Finance in March 1954, before his death, but the Sialkot Divisional Office did not obtain the necessary option declaration from him or other staff. The widow argues that the department’s negligence should not penalise her family. She requests Miss Jinnah’s immediate interference to sanction pension and benefits, and to save the destitute widow and four orphans.
