Abstract: A set of five citizen petitions and appeals from 1957‑1966, addressed to or copied to Miss Fatima Jinnah. Includes a widow’s request for pension after her postal clerk husband’s sudden death; a destitute woman’s plea for protection or permission to return to Srinagar to escape harassment; a complaint about mistreatment of an Indian passport holder seeking visa extension; a treasury officer’s appeal for confirmation; and a collective grievance from permanent staff of government mines about unpaid salaries and forced transfer to P.I.D.C.
Description: A letter from Rajoo Begum (Murree) to the A.D.M. Rawalpindi, copied to Miss Jinnah, describes a bogus criminal case filed against her by her estranged husband, financial pressure, and forced compromise; she requests either relief or permission to return to her family in Srinagar. A 1957 complaint from Ghulam Jilani to the Deputy Commissioner (Visa Section), Rawalpindi, copied to Miss Jinnah, protests the misbehaviour of a clerk towards his younger brother (an Indian national holding a passport) whose visa extension request was mishandled. Several documents (1950‑1956) relate to Mr. Badrud din Khan, Treasury Officer, Peshawar, who seeks confirmation against a post; official memos show government reluctance but favourable recommendations from his superiors. Finally, a 1957 letter from permanent staff of the former Government Mines at Sharigh complains about their unilateral transfer to P.I.D.C. without proper decision on their service status, resulting in unpaid salaries for two months; they request Miss Jinnah’s intervention. These documents illustrate the range of personal, legal, and administrative grievances that reached Miss Fatima Jinnah’s office. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
