Abstract: This is a collection of letters from March 1939, written to Muhammad Ali Jinnah by the Viceroy of India and several Provincial Governors. The letters acknowledge receipt of and respond to the copies of the resolutions passed by the All-India Muslim League (from October 1937 to December 1938) and the Pirpur Report, an enquiry into Muslim grievances in Congress-governed provinces. The correspondence highlights the political outreach of the Muslim League and the reception of its findings by the British colonial administration

Description: A file containing 10 pages of typed and handwritten letters on official letterheads from various Government Houses and Camps across India. The documents represent formal acknowledgments and preliminary responses to the political documents circulated by M.A. Jinnah in his capacity as a leader of the All-India Muslim League. The first page appears to be a cover or index page from Jinnah's office. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
