Abstract: This collection spans nearly three decades, beginning with a 1936 Lift Insurance policy for "Mayfair," a bungalow on Little Gibbs Road, Bombay, which includes an assignment clause linking it to M. A. Jinnah. It includes a 1955 comprehensive motor insurance policy for Miss Fatima Jinnah. The bulk of the documents, from 1960-1964, detail the posthumous administration of Quaid-i-Azam M. A. Jinnah's estate by his sister, Fatima Jinnah.
Description: This collection provides a unique window into the insurance history connected to M. A. Jinnah's properties and the complex, long-term administration of his estate after his death. The early insurance policies represent the mundane yet essential aspects of managing his assets during his lifetime. The later correspondence powerfully illustrates Fatima Jinnah's active and assertive role as the custodian of her brother's legacy, fiercely protecting the estate's assets from what she perceived as low offers or unauthorized actions by civic bodies.
