Abstract: This collection consists of a telegram and its corresponding draft sent to M.A. Jinnah from Balochistan Sardars via Nawabzada of Quetta on 20th June 1947. The documents capture an urgent, time-sensitive attempt by Baloch tribal leaders to establish direct telephone communication with Jinnah regarding a "very urgent message." This communication occurred during the critical final weeks before the Partition of India, highlighting the pivotal role Jinnah played in negotiating the status and future of Balochistan, which would become part of Pakistan.

Description: These telegrams are brief but historically significant artifacts from the immediate pre-Partition period. They serve as a testament to the frantic and decisive communications that characterized the final settlement of princely states and provinces. The urgency conveyed in the message underscores the critical nature of Balochistan's integration into the new state of Pakistan and positions M.A. Jinnah as the central figure whom all parties sought to contact for final decisions. This is a key primary source for understanding the logistical and political communications at the dawn of Pakistan's creation. SCANNED BY: NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF PAKISTAN.
